Riding Season Schedule

STAR Riders rides on weekends at the Marina Equestrian Center, with the season running from spring through late November. Here is how our season is structured โ€” and the 2003 season calendar preserved from the original site as an example.

How the Season Works

Weekend Sessions

Lessons and riding activities take place on weekends, when our volunteer side-walkers, horse handlers, and instructors are all on hand.

One Weekend Off Each Month

The program observes the last weekend of every month off โ€” time for horse care, volunteer training, and rest for the herd.

Season Ends Thanksgiving Weekend

The riding season traditionally closes at the end of November, and the horses enjoy a well-earned winter before spring sessions resume.

Before You Come to the Arena

  • Complete the program participation consent form for each rider (and each volunteer).
  • Dress riders in long pants and boots with a heel, if possible โ€” helmets are provided at the arena.
  • Arrive a few minutes early to meet the horse and the instructor team.
  • Bring family โ€” the arena is open for parents and siblings to watch and cheer.

Directions to the riding center are on the contact page, along with a map of the Marina Equestrian Center.
